Dictation that never leaves your Mac.
Hold the fn key. Speak. Release. Clean text lands in whatever app you are typing in, transcribed entirely on your Mac's own silicon.

text streams as you speak · on your silicon, not a server
No spam. One email when Beam ships.
That didn't go through. Write to [email protected] and we will add you by hand.

How it works
One key. No windows, no modes.
01
Hold
Press and hold the fn key from anywhere. Your text editor, your terminal, a message box.
02
Speak
Talk normally. Words stream onto the screen as you say them, not after.
03
Release
Let go of the key. Punctuated, readable text stays behind. Nothing else does.
Privacy
Where your voice goes
Nowhere.
Beam runs its speech model on your Mac's own GPU, through Metal, on Apple Silicon. No cloud. No accounts. No audio uploads, ever. There is no server on the other end because there is no other end.
- Most tools
- your voice → their servers → text comes back
- Beam
- your voice → your GPU → text, on the spot
That is the whole difference. Most dictation tools stream your audio to servers for processing. Beam does the work on your machine, with a model from the NVIDIA Parakeet family running locally. It works with the network cable cut.
The learning loop
Teach it a word once. It stays taught.
Names, jargon, Hinglish. Correct Beam one time and it remembers, in a dictionary that lives on your Mac like everything else it knows about you.
The details
A small, fast, native thing.
Beam lives in the menu bar. It is a native Mac app, built for Apple Silicon, small on disk and quick to wake. It is one capsule on your screen when you speak and nothing at all when you don't.
- Runs onApple Silicon
- NetworkNot required
- AccountNone
- Audio keptOn your disk only
Last thing
Be there when Beam lands.
One email at launch. Nothing else, ever.
