Your voice never leaves your Mac.
Whisper-grade dictation running 100% on your Apple silicon. No cloud. No account. No subscription. Hold fn, speak, release, and clean text lands in whatever app you are typing in.
Founding members get first access when Beam ships. No spam. One email when Beam ships.
That did not go through. Write to [email protected] and we will add you by hand.
Ship the beta to the waitlist on Friday morning.
* Word error rate of the NVIDIA Parakeet family model that powers Beam's Instant engine, measured on standard English speech recognition benchmarks.
Everyone else sends your voice to a server. We do not have one.
Turn the Wi-Fi off. It still works.
I. The gesture
One key. No windows, no modes, no setup.
01
Hold
Press and hold the fn key from anywhere. Your editor, your terminal, a message box.
02
Speak
Talk normally. Words stream onto the screen as you say them, not after.
03
Release
Let go of the key. Punctuated, readable text stays behind. Nothing else does.
II. Where your voice goes
Beam runs its speech model on your Mac's own GPU, through Metal, on Apple silicon. No cloud. No accounts. No audio uploads, ever. There is no server on the other end because there is no other end.
- Most tools
- your voice → their servers → text comes back
- Beam
- your voice → your GPU → text, on the spot
It works with the network cable cut.
III. The negative space
What Beam does not do.
Most of what makes Beam safe is what it leaves out. There is nothing to opt out of, because the machinery to collect was never built.
The absence is the product.
IV. The alternatives
Most tools ship your voice out. Beam keeps it in.
The cloud ones upload your audio, make you create an account, and bill you every month. Beam does the work on your Mac, and you pay for it once.

And the dictation already built into your Mac? Beam goes further: it learns the jargon you actually use, punctuates as you speak, and cleans up the filler so the text reads like you meant to write it.
V. The learning loop
Teach it a word once. It stays taught.
Names, jargon, Hinglish. Correct Beam one time and it remembers, in a dictionary that lives on your Mac like everything else it knows about you. The correction never leaves either.
VI. Confidential by design
Built for work you cannot put in the cloud.
A privileged conversation. A patient session. A source who spoke on condition. If the words cannot leave the room, the tool that captures them cannot leave the machine. Because no audio is ever sent anywhere, none of it can be subpoenaed from a server that does not exist.
We cannot screenshot your screen, log your keystrokes, or read your audio.
None of it ever leaves your Mac. Not policy. Architecture.
VII. The particulars
A small, fast, native thing.
Beam lives in the menu bar. A native Mac app, built for Apple silicon, small on disk and quick to wake. One capsule on your screen when you speak, and nothing at all when you do not.
